- University financial review teams conduct ongoing assessments of a combined academic array, business practices and organizational structures
September 2020
- University integrations addressed and updated at the President's annual State of the University address.
- Bloomsburg University added to the exploration with Mansfield University and Lock Haven University.
- University financial review teams continue assessments of a combined academic array, business practices and organizational structures
October 2020
- University Forum on University Integrations hosted by Mansfield University President Charles Patterson and Student Government Association President Tony Mastroianni
- University financial review teams for Northeastern universities continue assessments of a combined academic array, business practices and organizational structures
- The Board of Governors expected to affirm the ongoing institutional integrations process and authorize the Chancellor to proceed with the development of appropriate integration plans for review by the Board in 2021.
November 2020
- Working Group Leads are finalized and Sub-groups are created and membership identified.
- Working Groups and Sub-Groups begin meeting and working on their respective charges.
December 2020
- A University Forum for Alumni and the Community was hosted by Mansfield University President Charles Patterson with Mansfield University Alumni Association Treasurer Adam Loehr '09, '11, and closing comments from retired MU Sports Information Director and Mansfield Borough Council Member Steve McCloskey '91. A recording of the University Forum is available under the Forums tab of the integrations page.
- Updates on integrations are provided by President Patterson along with representatives from each Working Group during the bi-weekly Executive Cabinet meetings that are open to university employees. Updates will continue at future Executive Cabinet meetings.
January 2021
- PASSHE Chancellor Dan Greenstein and the three Presidents of the Northeast integration hold Town Hall meetings with more than 200 combined university, community, and government stakeholders at each campus. A recording of the Mansfield Town Hall is available under the Forums tab of the integrations page. Highlights of the three Town Halls were shared with local and region media.
- Working Groups submit Priority 1 and Priority 2 recommendations.
February 2021
- The Chancellor presented an integrations progress report to the Board of Governors at its February 2021 meeting.
- Mansfield President Dr. Charles Patterson and Bloomsburg President and Interim Lock Haven President Dr. Bashar Hanna host a combined student town hall for Mansfield, Bloomsburg, and Lock Haven students.
March 2021
- Chancellor Greenstein hosts a virtual open forum at Mansfield University to discuss system redesign.
April 2021
- Plans for the proposed integrations in the Northeast (Bloomsburg, Lock Haven, and Mansfield) and West (California, Clarion, and Edinboro) are made available to the public.
- On April 28, the Board of Governors took the next step in System Redesign by voting to approve implementation plans for the northeast and west university integrations to begin a 60-day public review/comment period before the Board considers final approval in July.
- A 60-day public comment period begins on April 29, allowing anyone to submit comments and recommendations about the plan.
June 2021
- The 60-day public comment period continues with four public hearings held between June 9-10.
- Submitted public comments are made available for the public to view.
July 2021
- Revised integration plans that incorporate feedback from the 60-day public comment period are posted for public viewing.
- The Board of Governors unanimously approve 18-0 the integration plans for the Northeast (Bloomsburg, Lock Haven, and Mansfield) and West (California, Clarion, and Edinboro) on April 14, expanding access to affordable, high-quality educational opportunities for students while at the same time maintaining vibrant campuses within our respective communities.
- The Board also appointed Bashar Hanna as interim president of Mansfield effective August 1, 2021, which will help to ensure a smooth leadership transition while the first phase of integration implementation gets underway. He will serve in the role until a permanent president is selected for the integrated university, according to the Board's policy for presidential appointments, which requires the involvement of students, faculty, staff, alumni, trustees and others in the process.
