Mr. Richard P. Cashman, Secretary
Mr. Cashman completed his B.A. in General Studies from Mansfield University in 1975. His continuing education includes various courses through the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania Judiciary Education, PA Office of the Attorney General, PA Coalition Against Domestic Violence, Columbia County and PA Courts.
Mr. Cashman has been a District Judge in Columbia County District Court since 1987. His previous positions include Field Auditor and Audit Supervisor for the Pennsylvania Department of the Auditor General. He has been professionally recognized for his work by the Department of Revenue and the Department of the Auditor General in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as well as by U.S. Attorney, Middle District of Pennsylvania.
Mr. Cashman has shown his leadership skills in the following roles: Domestic Ward Leader, Berwick Borough, 2nd Ward; Union Steward and Elected Vice President, AFSCME, Council 13, Local 972; President Columbia County Young Democrats, Executive Board Member of Pennsylvania State Young Democrats; Executive Committee, Columbia County Democratic Party; Treasurer, Columbia County Democratic Committee; and Member of Special Courts Judges Association of Pennsylvania.
He has been a member of the Mansfield University Council of Trustees since 2003. He is an active board member with United Way, Communities that Care and Columbia County Big Brothers/Big Sisters.
He serves as a committee member with Community Advisory Committee (Columbia County Juvenile Probation Services) and Berwick Area School District Drug and Alcohol Advisory Committee. He is also a member of Immaculate Conception Church; Berwick YMCA; Berwick Rotary Club; Berwick Knights of Columbus; Rangers Volunteer Fire Company. He serves as an instructor for Boy Scouts of America, and is a presenter for a Chamber of Commerce program to develop leadership within the community and presents the annual commencement address for the Berwick Area School District elementary D.A.R.E. graduates.
Mr. Cashman and the late Linda Lake Cashman were married for 29 years. They have two daughters Christine Cashman (Program Coordinator for the National Association of State Directors of Special Education, Inc.) and Colleen Cashman Bitner (Anne Arundel County Public Schools in Maryland).
