Mr. Ralph H. Meyer, LFACHE, Chair

Mr. Meyer has been a member of the M.U. Council of Trustees since 1997 and is currently the Council Chair. He received his BA in Economics and Mathematics from Syracuse University and his Masters in Hospital Administration from the University of Michigan.

Mr. Meyer served as the President and CEO of Guthrie Healthcare System from 1982-1998 and has since been President and Chief Executive Officer Emeritus. Prior to this, he held several other positions within Guthrie such as Vice Chairman of the Donald Guthrie Foundation for Education and Research, President of Robert Packer Hospital, President of Robert Packer School of Nursing, President of Guthrie Enterprises, President of Guthrie Inn and Conference Center, President of Sayre House, Inc. and President of Darway Nursing Home.

Guthrie Healthcare System is a vertically integrated healthcare system encompassing an Acute Care Division, including the Robert Packer Hospital; a Long Term Care Division encompassing several entities; an Education and Research Division providing various medical and allied health programs and performing basic research at the Guthrie Research Institute; and a for-profit division. The Guthrie Healthcare System is affiliated with the Guthrie Clinic, Ltd., a multispecialty group practice of over 200 physicians.

Prior to that, Mr. Meyer was on the Administrative Staff, The Milton S. Hershey Medical Center of the Pennsylvania State University, Hershey, Pennsylvania and served with the United States Air Force Medical Service Corps.

Mr. Meyer is on the Board of Chemung Canal Trust Company in Elmira, NY, and the Board and Executive Committee of Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown NY. He is a Life Fellow in the American College of Health Care Executives. He is a certified and active high school football official.

Mr. Meyer authored nine and co-authored two articles published in various journals and co-authored one book.

Mr. Meyer and his wife Carol reside in S. Waverly, PA and have two children, Keith and Jeanne.
